To draw Ss’ attention and make clear of the learning objectives. Step II. Discover and compare T leads in the topic by asking Ss two questions based on the reading passage. Based on the answer to Question 1, guide Ss to revise the –ing form as an adverbial. Based on the answer to Question 2, lead in the new grammar item – the perfect –ing form. T guides Ss to distinguish the –ing form and the perfect –ing form. T asks Ss to finish the exercises to get familiar with the perfect –ing form. To guide Ss to revise the –ing form as an adverbial based on the reading passage, learn the perfect –ing form and distinguish the two grammar items by finishing the exercises. Step III. Practice Level 1: Exercise 1: Choose the correct sentences and tell the reasons. Exercise 2: Make one sentence from two using the –ing form or the perfect –ing form. T guides Ss to summarize the key points in the exercises. T asks Ss to have a quiz based on what has learned in this class.
