However, what makes her works so popular? Based on the study of Murder on the Orient Express, the paper, from three angles of characterization, themes and mode of crime detection, probes into the charm of Agatha Christie’ s detective novel.The first chapter introduces the research background of detective novel,the achievements of Agatha Christie, Murder on the Orient Express and significance of the thesis.In the second chapter,the important characters are analyzed to examine what kind of artistic technique of Agatha Christie use in depicting characters.In the third chapter, unique mode of Murder on the Orient Express will be discussed. In the fourth chapter, the theme is analyzed.The charm of Agatha Christie’ s novel reflected by Murder on the Orient Express will be summarized in the last chapter.
