Methods 111 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus at fit diagnosis were divided into two groups according to BMI and clinical symptoms, non-fat group (n=103) and fat group (n=111),then the two groups were divided into two subgroups, Liuweidihuang capsule with metformin subgroup and metformin subgroup. The patients in different groups, on the basis of routine diet and exercise, were treated with corresponding drugs. The fasting plasma glucose (FPG),fasting plasma proniulin（FPI）, immunoreactive iulin（IRI）, iulin resistance index (IR), iulin secretion index（IS）and FPI/IRI in all the groups were detected and analyzed. Results There was a significant difference in FPI/IRI of two subgroups of fat group before and after treatment (P)；there were significant differences in IR,IS,FPI/IRI of Liuweidihuang capsule with metformin subgroup of non-fat group before and after treatment (P or P); there were significant differences in IS, FPI/IRI of metformin subgroup before and after treatment (P)；there was a significant difference in IR and ISbettwen fat group and non-fat group(P).
