Each room or area is treated appropriately and uniquely with no preconceptions. This is accomplished by immersing oneself in the clients ambitions as well as their concerns. One must also discover the condition, history and context of the building, as, often, there are many layers which must be unveiled. This journey of discovery results in respect for both the client and the building, establishing a true foundation on which to design. Only when the foundation is understood by both the client and designer, does the exercise of visioning begin. Always with a reverence for the foundation, design concepts are generated, shaped and reshaped until the most simple and elegant solutions are realized.
