Present the three pictures about different festivals on Page 107. Ask the students to look at them and guess: What festivals are they? II. Tell the students they are going to learn more about festivals. Reading presentation = 1 \* ROMAN I. Ask the students to read the statements of the three festivals. Remind them to apply the reading skills. Then ask them to finish the “true” or “false” questions and if it’s false, let them correct it. □ People in Thailand celebrate their own New Year by splashing water on each other. □ Carnival takes place in May. □ The German people are great beer drinkers. Each year they have only one beer festival. II. Play the tape. Ask the students to read out the main activities people usually do on these festivals. = 3 \* ROMAN III. Divide the students into groups and ask them to read the passages on Page 107. Remind ask of the reading skill: scanning. Encourage them to summarize the time of these festivals and the activities people do. Extension activity = 1 \* ROMAN I. Ask the students to form into groups, and talk about the festivals they know.
