Present some pictures of gifts and ask the students what they are. Then ask them to discuss the following question: If one of your friends will have his/her birthday this week, what gift would you like to give him/her? = 2 \* ROMAN II. Introduce the learning content to the students: They are going to read some short passages about going shopping. Pre-reading = 1 \* ROMAN I. Present some new words on the slide. Tell the students their meanings and pronunciations. II. Present the picture of Jane, Terry and Marry on Page 63 , and then ask the students to predict: What gift does Jane / Terry / Mary like? Reading practice (1) I. Ask the students to skim the passage on Page 63, and then read the form in Activity = 2 \* GB3 ②. Give the students some advice about the proper reading skills. II. Play the tape. Ask the students to read after the tape and underline the important expressions about one’s preferences. Explain the meanings of these expressions to the students: Jane likes music.
