Introduction 1.1 General This guide provides guidelines for the design of Nitrogen Systems on offshore oil and gas production installations. There are common elements to the design of onshore facilities. 1.2 Functional Requirements Most offshore facilities require a reliable supply of Nitrogen for purging and blanketing purposes. On large offshore production installations, Nitrogen is commonly generated on board. On smaller facilities, it may be more economical to maintain a regular supply of commercially available liquid or gaseous Nitrogen. Nitrogen is required in large quantities during shutdow
