Purpose and Scope The purpose of this document is to provide a standard guideline for the Process Department work on critical flow orifice design. Adherence to this Practice is important for design, checking and overall quality assurance. This procedure is for design of high pressure drop orifices in vapor service. It does not apply to liquid service, or to vapor service where the pressure ratio across the orifice is less than the critical pressure ratio. 2. Roles and Responsibilities The process engineer shall follow this procedure when designing critical flow orifices. 3.
