Introduction 1.1 General This guide primarily covers the design of instrument/utility air systems for offshore oil and gas production installations. Onshore design has common requirements. 1.2 Functional Requirements Most offshore facilities require a reliable supply of compressed gas for instrument actuation, utility services, and starting and running of mechanical equipment. Compressed air is normally used however produced natural gas is also sometimes used for smaller facilities, especially where there is little or no electrical power. Compressed air systems are pre
