The Theme for this module is “eating together”, which can be divided into three parts, “traditional and typical food around the world”, “eating customs from Western countries” and “special meals from different countries”. The texts in each unit can be seen as below. Unit 1 Unit 1 Unit 2 Unit 3 Figure 2 The texts in this module Dialogue in Unit 1 introduces several traditional food in different countries. With the transition from Unit 1, Unit 2 presents a passage about eating customs in the West. For one thing, the customs are explained in details from the start of the meal to the end. For another, the structure of the passage can be viewed as “Introduction-Details-Conclusion”. Passive voice is widely used throughout the passage. Based on Unit 1 and 2, The tasks in Unit 3 are to practise and reinforce the passive voice, review the key vocabulary and complete module task (describe an eating experience). The texts for Unit 3 include an email about Chinese eating customs and a passage about the sixteenth birthday parties in the US.
