Ang Lee is a Taiwanese American film director.He has directed serveral films such as Eat Drink Man Woman(1994),Sense and Sensibility (1995), Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (2000), Hulk (2003), Brokeback Mountain (2005), for which he won an Academy Award for Best Director, and Lust, Caution. This situation, usually an embarrassment in Chinese culture, put enormous pressure on the couple, but with Lins support and understanding, Lee didnt abandon his career in films but continued to generate new ideas from movies and performances. He also wrote several screenplays during this time. Pushing Hands (1992) was a success in Taiwan both among critics and at the box office. It received eight nominations in the Golden Horse Film Festival, Taiwans premier film festival. Eat Drink Man Woman, a film that describes traditional values, modern relationships, and family conflicts in Taipei. The film was once again a box office hit and was critically acclaimed. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon is a movie based on the traditional Chinese “wuxia”which was a surprising success worldwide.The film became the highest grossing foreign film in many countries, including the United States and the UK, and was nominated for Best Picture, Best Foreign Language Film, and Best Director at the Academy Awards, besides, it ended up with Best Foreign Language Film and three technical awards.
