world’spopulationnowaccessingtheinternetthroughtheirowndevice.1Mobileremains

theprimary–insomecases,only–waymostpeopleaccesstheinternetinlow-andmiddle-incomecountries(LMICs).Mobileaccounted

for84%ofbroadbandconnectionsin2024.2

Aftertwoyearsofrelativelyslowgrowth,2024

sawanincreaseintherateofmobileinternet

adoptionglobally.3However,significantdigital

dividespersist.Thosewhoaredigitallyexcludedaremorelikelytobepoorer,lesseducated,rural,personswithdisabilitiesorwomen–groupsthatstandtogainthemostfromconnectivity.
