ThisstandardisissuedunderthefixeddesignationF1955;thenumberimmediatelyfollowingthedesignationindicatestheyearoforiginaladoptionor,inthecaseofrevision,theyearoflastrevision.Anumberinparenthesesindicatestheyearoflastreapproval.Asuperscriptepsilon(e)indicatesaneditorialchangesincethelastrevisionorreapproval.

Scope

Thistestmethodprovidesameanstomeasuretheenduseflammability,forexample,burnrateofsleepingbagswhichusevariousmaterialsandconstructionsintheirmanufacture,andprovideslabelingrequirementstofacilitatetheidentifica-tionofproductsconformingtothistestmethod.

ThistestmethoddefinestheproceduresdescribedintheflammabilitystandardCPAI-75whichhasbeentheacceptedstandardinthesleepingbagindustryintheU.S.forover30years.

ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Inch-poundunitsareprovidedforinformationonly.

Thisstandardshouldbeusedtomeasureanddescribethepropertiesofmaterials,products,orassembliesinresponsetoheatandflameundercontrolledlaboratoryconditionsandshouldnotbeusedtodescribeorappraisethefirehazardorfireriskofmaterials,products,orassembliesunderactualfireconditions.However,resultsofthistestmaybeusedaselementsofafire-riskassessmentwhichtakesintoaccountallofthefactorswhicharepertinenttoanassessmentofthefirehazardofaparticularenduse.
