ABSTRACT Task-based Language Teaching (TBLT) is advocated in English Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education and Senior Middle School. However, TBLT developed in the background of second language teaching. There are some problems to adopt TBLT in China’s elementary English teaching. The article is to construct a Chinese Sinicized TBLT mode based on the combination of the advantages of TBLT and the ones of the traditional English teaching method. It also probes into the construction of the Chinese Sinicized TBLT modes in three respects: rationale, principles and teaching modes. Chapter One introduces the research background of Task-based Language Teaching, analyzes the problems in the implementation of it in China and then puts forward the idea of the Chinese Sinicized TBLT. Chapter Two illustrates the definitions of the tasks and the basic features of TBLT. It offers a brief review of TBLT development and summarizes the current status of the research in and out of China. Chapter Three discusses the four principles of the Chinese Sinicized TBLT modes and tries to illustrate the reasons why to follow these principles from different angles. Chapter Four elaborates the Chinese Sinicized TBLT modes and structures. Chapter Five concerns Chinese Sinicized TBLT teaching experiments. The result shows that the Chinese Sinicized TBLT can efficiently improve the speaking ability of the students. Chapter Six comes to the conclusion of the thesis. The Chinese Sinicized TBLT embodies the concept of quality education. The Chinese Sinicized TBLT is helpful to improve the comprehensive language abilities of the students and the students will surely benefit from it. Key w
