Part A It’s Millie’s birthday soon
Step1 Presentation
Show a picture of a birthday cake and let the Ss enjoy the song “Happy Birthday to You” ,then ask:
What’s this?
When do we eat this cake?
What do you want to do when your birthday comes?
What can we usually get at birthday party?
Teach the new words: birthday,party,soon,get,card,chocolate,toy,cake…
Revise the expression:Would you like …and learn the respones:I’d love …
Step2 Look and say
Show the pictures of Part A in the book and talk about them with the Ss.like this:
Who is this girl?
Does she look happy?
Why?
Step3 Learn to say
1.Play the tape and get the Ss.to listen with the question What does Millie usually get for her birthday?
Then check the answer.
2.Get the Ss to read after the tape.

Step 1 Revision
Invite some students to read their presents list and then ask them to talk about their favourite present.
Step 2 Presentation
Ask: Millie is going to have a birthday party. There are many kinds of food in the party. What would you like to eat?
Help the students to say their favourite food.
(Take out the pictures and things)
Ask: would you like some bananas/sweets/ice cream/orange juice/cakes?
Write the new words on the blackboard and read them.
Step 3 Listening
(1) Talk about the two pictures in Part B with the students---Who is in the picture? What are they talking about?
Introduce the situation of the dialogue: Millie and her mum are talking about what to buy for
