School of Environment, Nanj ing University of Technology Nanj ing 210009) Abstract Sediments of macrophyte and algae lake zone of Lake Taih are taken and enriched sing two kinds of carbon so rces ( gl cose and propionic acid) in laboratory- scale seq encing batch reactors ( SBR) nder anaerobic/ aerobic condi- tion to investigate existence and difference of polyphosphate acc m lating organisms ( PAOs) in sediments of macrophyte and algae lake zone of Lake Taih . The res lts show that there is polyphosphate acc m lating organisms in sediments of Taih Lake. Orthophosphate concentration of sediments of macrophyte lake zone is higher than that in sediments of algae lake zone at the anaerobic phase nder two kinds of carbon so rces c ltivating. Anaerobic re
