Brief Analysis on Communicative Language Teaching【Abstract】Communicative Language Teaching is a teaching approach with its specific features in language teaching and learning.It helps the students to practice and apply the language in real contexts, though it still has its limitation.【Keywords】Communicative Language Teaching; CLT; language learning; communication activities; authentic teaching material; collaborative learningI.IntroductionCommunicative Language Teaching (CLT) is regarded as a broad teaching approach which includes methods and curricula designed for achieving the “communication” purpose of teaching language in the classroom learning.Emerged from 1960s, CLT’s theoretical background mainly includes speech act theory, functional linguistics, communicative competence and classroom communication.By sharing information and negotiating meaning, CLT is an interactive and collaborative process to make students become communicative competent in terms of organizational competence (grammatical and discourse competence), pragmatic competence, sociocultural competence and strategic competence.II.FeaturesThe model of communicative language teaching has the following features: 1) reference - an referential framework which means there should be something existing for learners to communicate or talk about; 2) intention, which means that learners should have a communicative purpose to fulfill the communication activities; 3) uncertainty/unpredictability, which means there is information gap between learners , and they communicate with each other as to obtain the information that they do not know beforehand, by using the target language.With regard to the pedagogical practice of CLT, authentic teaching materials are chosen as to expose students to real-life situations and solve the problem that learners can not apply what they learn in the classroom to real world communication.CLT focuses on learner-centered instruction, therefore, the role of teacher is facilitator, cl
