It is widely used by individuals or organizations to make known something about to happen, or sometimes, something that has happened. It may be an announcement of a meeting, a celebration, a party, a contest, a match, etc. It may also be used to issue public instructions. Notices are mostly meant to be pinned up or pasted on notice boards or to be published in newspapers. Step2 Presentation We often need to write notices for different purposes. Notice writing, to some extent, is a kind of art. It requires practice keeping some basic points in mind. It is not compulsory to follow a certain format each time. Notices for events, such as meetings, performances, parties, matches and the like, are mostly very short with only the date, time, place and event included. Public notices vary in length using formal language. Before moving on, answer the following questions to make sure you know about writing a notice: 1. What is the most important function of a notice? 2. What information should be included in a notice? Answer: To make known something about to happen, or something that has happened Answer: the date, time, place, etc. Case 1 Read the notices and think about what points of such a notice are included, and in what way they are used.
