Read the new words 1.Lead students to read the new words, pay attention to the pronunciation of some words; 2.Give students some time to read themselves and then make some corrections. Step II. Explain some important new words in details apartment: a single room; a set of rooms overlook: look downwards; ignore, neglect eg: You can stand here and over look the whole town. eg: We can afford to overlook the minor offences. chat n. : to have a chat with v : chat with sb 4. inclined: likely, tending to eg: He is inclined to stay awake late. Incline v. eg : The land inclines toward the shore. eg : She inclines to laziness. inclination n. 5.startle: give a sudden shock or surprise to eg: You startled me. Startling: surprising, astonishing eg : a startling result 6.reassure v. 使放心，使安心 ~ sb about … Eg: The news reassured the parents about the safety of their child. 7. overload v. over + V : overwork oversleep overload with … eg: the donkey was so greatly overloaded that it could hardly move any more. 8. fancy v. suppose imgine Eg: I fancy that it is going to rain today. He fancies she likes him Adj. Fancy cakes , goods. 9.forbid . v.(forbade ,forbad,forbidden) Eg: I you want to go , I can’t forbid you . She was forbidden to talk to her. Her father forbade their marriage. 10. will : 用意志的力量是某事发生或某人做 Eg: As a child , the thought that his grandmother’s death had happended just because he had willed it . 11. assure v. 保证， 使确信 make sure Eg : I assure you that they will be perfectly with us They tried to assure him of their willingness to work . 12. ruin : destroy ,spoil damage Eg: The storm
