Since 1945, reported that sulfadiazine induced DIL, it has been found more than 80 kinds of drugs can cause lupus-like illness, or aggravate existing lupus. DIL and primary systemic lupus erythematosus (systemic lupus erythematosus, SLE) in epidemiological and clinical prognosis, and many other significant differences exist. Constant pharmacovigilance is crucial for prompt diagnosis and cessation of offending therapy, hence achieving the best outcome.
