Keywords: Eugenol; gel; acne; prescription design; Quality Evaluation The Prescription and Quality Assessment of Eugenol Acne Gelata Abstract: ObjectiveTo study the prescription and quality assessment of Eugenol Acne Gelata.MethodsCarbopol-940 was used as base, and trithanolamine as neutralizer, Eugenol was added into the hydrogel; UV spectrophotometry and gas chromatography was used to measure the drug content of hydrogel.ResultsThe gelata was homogenous, transparent and stable.The drug released quickly, and the determination of content was simple and rapid.ConclusionThe formulation of the gelata is reasonable and coincident with the requirement of Chinese Pharmacopoeia 2000.The gelata is suitable for remedy of acne.
