The 20th century public universities in the United States since 90 years tenure system to develop a trend analysis
[Abstract] the 20th century, 90 years, U.S. public universities increased the proportion of non-tenure teachers, while the decline in the proportion of tenured teachers, the number of part-time teachers has grown rapidly. Lack of state investment in higher education in the context of the general, state public universities have on the existing tenure system reform, contributed to the tenure system to the post-tenure review after the change in the system employed, this transformation of universities and teachers has produced a corresponding impact.

University tenure system is an important part of American higher education system. Development of this system was originally designed to protect academic freedom, so that tenure can be free from intervention of administrative power, but concentrate on research, teaching and writing.
