This study investigated the anthropometric indices associated with variations in cardiovascular parameters among primaryschoolpupilsinIle-Ife.Method.Onethousandandtwenty-sixpupils(agerange6–14years,meanage10.12years)from tenschoolswererecruitedwithparents’informedconsent.Anthropometric(Height(Ht),Weight(Wt),AbdominalCircumference (AC))andcardiovascular(SystolicBloodPressure(SBP),DiastolicBloodPressure(DBP),HeartRate(HR))parameterswere measuredusingstandardinstrumentsandprocedures.Bloodpressure(BP)wasmeasuredaftertenminutesofquietsitting.Body MassIndex(BMI),RatePressureProduct(RPP)andPulsePressure(PP)wereestimated.Results.Age,Ht,Wt,BMI,andAC correlatedsigni?cantly(P .01)withBPandPP.ACandBMIwerepredictorsofBP,HR,RPP,andPP.Conclusion .Signi?cant correlationsexistbetweenage,Ht,Wt,BMI,AC,andBPwithweightbeingamoreviablepredictorofSBPandageamoreviable predictorofDBP. 1.Introduction anthropometricindicesthatcanbeusedasmarkersofchild BP and Heart Rate (HR) in Africa and other continents [4, 7].
