Arti?cial neural networks showgoodcapabilityinpredictionandoptimizationofmachiningprocessescomparedwithtraditionalmethods.Inviewofthe importanceofarti?cialneuralnetworksinmachining,thispaperisanattempttoreviewthepreviousstudiesandinvestigations ontheapplicationofarti?cialneuralnetworksinthemillingprocessforthelastdecade. 1.Introduction inmanyapplicationslikepatternrecognition,classi?cation, prediction,optimization,andcontrolsystems. The milling process is one of the important machining processes besides turning. In the milling process the chips areremovedbyfeedingaworkpiecepastarotatingmultiple tooth cutter. It is a complex process, where analytical models cannot give the best accurate results in modeling. Traditionalmethodslikestatisticalregressionandresponse surface methodology approaches have been used by some researchers in modeling the milling process.
