InmostBraziliancitiessewagesludgeisdumpedintosanitaryland?lls,eventhoughitsuseinforestplantationsasafertilizerand soilconditionermightbeaninterestingoption.Sewagesludgeapplicationsmightreducetheamountsofmineralfertilizersneeded tosustaintheproductivityoninfertiletropicalsoils.However,sewagesludgemustbeappliedwithcaretocropstoavoidsoiland waterpollution.Theaimofourstudywastoassessthee?ectsofdryandwetsewagesludgesonthegrowthandnutrientcyclingof EucalyptusgrandisplantationsestablishedonthemostcommonsoiltypeforBrazilianeucalyptplantations.Biomassproduction andnutrientcyclingwerestudiedovera36-monthperiodinacompleterandomizedblockdesign.Fourexperimentaltreatments werecompared:wetsewagesludge,drysludge,mineralfertilizer,andnofertilizerapplications.Thetwotypesofsludgesaswell asmineralfertilizerincreasedsigni?cantlythebiomassofEucalyptustrees.Woodbiomassproductions36monthsafterplanting weresimilarinthesewagesludgeandmineral
