JuvenileIdiopathicArthritis(JIA)isthemostcommoncauseofchronicarthritisinchildhoodandadolescentsandencompasses aheterogeneousgroupofdi?erentdiseases.DuetothepromisingresultsofB-celldepletingtherapiesinrheumatoidarthritisthe roleofB-cellsinautoimmunediseaseshastobediscussedinanewcontext.Additionally,experimentsinmousemodelshaveshed newlightontheantibody-independentroleofB-cellsinthedevelopmentofautoimmunediseases.Inthisreviewwewilldiscuss theimportanceofB-cellsinthepathogenesisofJIAappraisingthequestionforanimmunologicalbasisofB-celltargetedtherapy inJIA. 1.Introduction (RA) patients. Evidence of autoreactive T-cells as well as autoantibodiesreactingwithseveraltissueautoantigenshas been provided in both diseases [5, 6].
