AstudyonthelifecycleofthesilkmothAnaphepanda(Boisduval)wasconductedintwodi?erenthabitatsoftheKakamega ForestinwesternKenya:Ikuywa,anindigenousforest,andIsecheno,amixedindigenousforest.Eggswerelaidinclusters,and theincubationperiodrangedfrom40to45days.LarvaefedonBrideliamicrantha(Hochst)andpassedthroughseveninstars. Thedevelopmentalperiodtookbetween83to86daysinthedryseasonand112to118daysintherainyseason.Thepupalperiod rangedbetween158and178daysintherainyseasonand,ontheotherhand,between107and138daysinthedryseason.But thelatercaughtupindevelopmentwiththosethatformedearlier.Mothsemergedfrommid-Octoberuntilmid-May.Longevity ofadultAnaphepandamothstookbetween4and6days,butgenerallyfemalesseemedtolivelongerthanmales.Themothalso seemstohavehigherlifespanintheindigenousforestcomparedtothemixedindigenousforest. 1.Introduction 2.MaterialsandMethods Wild silk farming is a supplementary activity for income generation for rural communities that mainly depend on subsistence farming and assist in conserving the wild silk- mothanditshabi
