Both oral sodium phosphate (NaP) and polyethyleneglycol-basedlavage(PEG-ELS)areusedpredominantlyasbowelcleansingmodalities.NaPhasgainedpopularity duetolowdrinkingvolumeandlowercosts.Thepurposeofthisrandomizedmulticenterobserverblindedstudywastocompare threegroupsofcleansing(NaP,NaP+sennosides,PEG-ELS+sennosides)inreferencetotolerability,acceptance,andcleanliness. PatientandMethods:355outpatientsbetween18and75yearswererandomizedintothreegroups(A,B,C)receivingNaP= A,NaP,andsennosides=BorPEG-ELSandsennosides=C.Gastroenterologistsperformingcolonoscopieswereblindedtothe typeofpreparation.Allpatientsdocumentedtoleranceandadverseevents.Vitalsigns,premedication,completeness,discomfort, andcomplicationswererecorded.Aqualityscore(0–4)ofcleanlinesswasgenerated.Results:Thethreegroupsweresimilarwith regardtoage,sex,BMI,indicationforcolonoscopy,andcomorbidity.Drinkingvolumes(L)(A=4.33+1.2,B=4.56+1.18,C =4.93+1.71)wereinfavorofNaP(P=.005).Discomfortfro
