Background.Developmentaldisordersarefailureorinabilitytoacquirevariousage-speci?cskillsatexpectedmaturationalage, whicha?ectsabout5–10%ofpreschoolchildren.Oneofthemostimportantmethodsforevaluationofdevelopmentallydelayed childrenisneuroimaging,especially,brainmagneticresonanceimaging(MRI)thatprovidesusefulinformationregardingbrain tissuestructuresandanomalies.MethodandMaterial.Inthisstudy,hospitalrecordsof580developmentallydelayedchildren(aged 2monthsto15years)whoadmittedinpediatricwardofGolestanHospitalfrom1997to2009wereselected.Informationsuch asage,MRI?ndingswerecollectedinthequestionnaireandstatisticallyanalyzed.Results.Total,580childrenincluding333males (57.4%)and247females(42.6%)werestudied.AbnormalbrainMRIwasobservedin340(58.6%)cases(204Males,136females). The ?nding includes nonspeci?c in 38 (6.6%), congenital and developmental anomalies of brain in 39 (6.7%), recognizable syndromesin3(0.5%),neurovasculardiseasesortraumain218(37.6%),andmetabolicorneurodegenerativediseasesin42 (7.2%)cases.Conclusion.Because60%ofallstudygroupsshowedabnormalbrainMRI,usingthisme
