Carbonnanotubes(CNTs)havebeenintroducedrecentlyasanovelcarriersystemforbothsmallandlargetherapeuticmolecules. CNTscanbefunctionalized(i.e.,surfaceengineered)withcertainfunctionalgroupsinordertomanipulatetheirphysicalorbio- logicalproperties.InadditiontotheabilityofCNTstoactascarriersforawiderangeoftherapeuticmolecules,theirlargesurface areaandpossibilitytomanipulatetheirsurfacesandphysicaldimensionshavebeenexploitedforuseinthephotothermaldestruc- tionofcancercells.ThispaperpaperwilldiscussthetherapeuticapplicationsofCNTswithamajorfocusontheirapplicationsfor thetreatmentofcancer. 1.Introduction to functionalize these molecules with organic groups and renderthemsolublethatopenedthewaytobioapplications ofCNTs.Duetotheirhighsurfacearea,theyarecapableof adsorbingorconjugatingwithawidevarietyoftherapeutic molecules.
