Signi?canttherapeuticopportunityexistsintargetingtheseimmunosuppressivepathways.Onesuchimmunosuppressivepathway istheproductionofextracellularadenosinebyCD73,anectonucleotidaseoverexpressedinvarioustypesofcancer.Wehereafter reviewthebiologyofCD73anditsroleincancerprogressionandmetastasis.Wedescribetheroleofextracellularadenosinein promotingtumorgrowththroughparacrineandautocrineactionontumorcells,endothelialcells,andimmunecells. 1.CancerImmunotherapy:AnOverview therapieswithmonoclonalantibodies(mAbs).Whileanti- body-dependentcellularcytotoxicity(ADCC)isimportant intheactivityoftumor-targetedmAbtherapies,recentstud- iessuggestthatmAbssuchastrastuzumabmayalsostimulate adaptive antitumor immunity [6].
