Denguehasbeenrecognizedasoneofthemostimportantvector-borneemerginginfectiousdiseasesglobally.Thoughdengue normally causes a self-limiting infection, some patients may develop a life-threatening illness, dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF)/dengueshocksyndrome(DSS).ThereasonwhyDHF/DSSoccursincertainindividualsisunclear.Studiesintheendemic regionssuggestthatthepreexistingantibodiesareariskfactorforDHF/DSS.Viremiaandthrombocytopeniaarethekeyclinical featuresofdenguevirusinfectioninpatients.Theamountsofviruscirculatinginpatientsarehighlycorrelatedwithseveredengue disease,DHF/DSS.Also,thedisturbance,mainlyatransientdepression,ofhematologicalcellsisacriticalclinical?ndinginacute denguepatients.However,thecellsresponsibleforthedengueviremiaareunresolvedinspiteoftheintensivee?ortsbeenmade.
