Targeted interventions have the potential advantage of being more e?cient than broad-based interventions; however,theyalsofacedi?cultchallenges.Inparticular,targetedinterventionsmaybelesslikelytoachievemaintenanceand generalizationofgainsmadeintreatment.Anovelpotentialsolutiontothisproblemisdescribedwhichdrawsonthesocial psychologicalliteratureonsocialcognition. 1.Introduction Recognizing the importance of targeting functionally proximaldomainsintreatment,someresearchershaveincor- poratedsocialcognitionasaninterventiontargetinpsychoso- cial treatment for schizophrenia.
