Methods:Weusedastratifiedtwo-stagerandomsamplequestionnairesurveyof397youngpeople15-24years from5,183households,and19semi-structuredqualitativeinterviewstoassessandexplorehealthandqualityof lifeissues. Results:Theyoungpeopleinthecampshadverylimitedknowledgeofreproductivehealthissues;onlyabout oneinfivecorrectlyansweredatleastonequestiononreproductivehealth.Theywereclearthattheywanted morereproductivehealtheducationandservices,tobeprovidedbyhealthworkersratherthanparentsorteachers whowerenotabletogivethemtheinformationtheyneeded.Maritalstatuswasassociatedwithsexualhealth knowledge;havingrelevantknowledgeofreproductivehealthwasuptosixtimeshigherinmarriedcomparedto unmarriedyouth,afteradjustingforsocio-economicanddemographicfactors.Althoughcondomusewas consideredimportant,inpracticealargeproportionofrespondentsfelttooembarrassedtousethem.Therewasa contradictionbetweenmoralviewsandactualbehaviour;morethanhalfbelievedtheyshouldremainvirginsuntil marriage,whileoverhalfoftheyouthexperiencedsexbeforemarriage.Twothirdsofwomenweremarriedbefore theageof18,buttwothirdfelttheydidnotmarryattherightage.Forcedsexwasconsideredacceptablebyone inthreeyouth.Theyouthconsideredtheirqualityoflifetobepoorandlimitedduetoconfinementinthecamps, thelimitedworkopportunities,theaiddependency,theunclearfutureandtheboredomandunhappinessthey face. Conclusions:ThelongconflictinMyanmarandtheresultantlongstayinrefugeecampsoverdecadesaffectt
