Methods/PrincipalFindings:Weconductedahousehold-basedcrosssectionalserosurveyinMayotteinNovemberand December2006usingcomplexmultistageclustersampling.Toproducetheresultsrepresentativeoftheislandpopulation aged2yearsorolder,sampledatawereadjustedwithsampleweights.Explanatoryandmultiplelogisticregressionanalyses wereperformedtoinvestigateassociationsbetweenCHIKVinfectionseropositivity(presenceofIgMand/orIgGtoCHIKVby enzyme-linked immunoabsorbent assay) and risk factors. A total of 1154 individuals were analyzed. The overall seroprevalenceofCHIKVinfectionwas37?2%(95%CI=33?9–40?5),318(72?3%)oftheseropositiveparticipantsreported symptomsconsistentwithaCHIKVinfectionduringtheepidemicperiod.RiskfactorsforCHIKVseropositivityamongadults (aged15yearsandolder)weremalegender,lowsocioeconomicindex,schooling#6yearsandliv
