Basic knowledge of paper Keywords: Grammar Translation Method Communicative Approach Communicative Competence Abstract: The ultimate purpose of language teaching is to cultivate the ability of students to use language, how to develop students’ ability to use language, how to improve the quality of college English teaching foreign language teachers on hot spots. This paper tries to language teaching should not only focus on the knowledge of the language lectures, but also emphasis on language functional point of view, the proposed translation method and communicative teaching method, not only to impart to students basic knowledge of the language, but also to cultivate the students’ actual use of language, and ultimately improve the quality and level of university foreign language teaching.
A brief review of the Communicative Approach (Communicative Language Teaching) Communicative approach to the formation of functional linguistics, sociolinguistics, and psycholinguistics and other disciplines, its core is about the interpersonal skills of the doctrine and the concept of “communicative competence” is a 1972 American sociolinguists Hymes first . He believes that to obtain the language communicative competence must include language skills, including language use of interpersonal skills including the following parameters: (I) grammatical, some kind of argument whether (and to what extent) in the form of possible (2) the suitability of a certain argument whether (and to what extent) feasible, (3) Appropriateness of a certain say whether (and to what extent) appropriate, (4) the actual operability whether a certain statement (and to what extent) the actual.
