Compared with western sports, traditional Chinese Wushu has another set of expression system, thinking manner and behavior mode. The “cultural root system” of the traditional Chinese sports culture born in the Shang and Zhou dynasties and matured in the early Qing dynasty originated in the “period of cultural axle center”. Therefore, when we think about today’s Wushu issues, we should develop new ideas based on its foundation and by tracing back to its origin, absorb fresh nutrition for the Wushu culture from the “Chinese cul- tural root system”, and seek for the civilizing function of traditional Wushu in the world today. The research results indicated that based on its unique civilizing function, the traditional Wushu culture, which pursues the integration of the body and mind as well as intrinsic experience, plays a cultural supplementing role in the dilemma of moderniza- tion of the western world as a result of the “dualism” ideology, since the ancient Chinese conception of integration of man and nature contained in the traditional Chinese Wushu culture can perfectly prevent va
