(A) Background Information
本模块以健康为话题,主课文对话以看病为主题,涉及病情描述和治疗建议。这是本套教材改编之后,新增加的一个话题,所以学生这方面的知识储备可能不太多。但学生学过运动和健康饮食的话题,与本模块的内容有一定联系。前两个模块已学过现在完成时态,本模块新增了since和for的时间状语。总的来讲,这是一个比较切合学生生活实际的话题,有很好的现实意义,学生应该会比较感兴趣,且难度不会太大。
(B) Teaching Objectives
a. Language Focus
The students will be able to
(1) master and use the key vocabulary: cough, fever, headache, stomach, ache, toothache, ill, this, since, cold, catch a cold, take one’s temperature, health
(2) master the key structure:
桯ow long have you been like this?
桰 have been like this since last Tuesday.
I haven了s’t done much exercise since I got my computer last year.
(3) understand present perfect tense with since or for.
(4) notice the intonation: intonation goes down at the end of open questions and up at the end of yes/no questions.
b. Language Skills
The students will be able to
(1) listen and understand conversations about illness.
(2) talk about illnesses and act out a dialogue between a doctor and a patient.
c. Learning Strategies
Students cooperate with others while learning, ask for help and give advice.
d. Affection
Students can care about their own health and others’ as well.
e. Culture
Different people have different life styles and health problems.
f. Product (Task)
If you are ill, go to a doctor for help and look after yourself well.
(C) Emphasis and Difficulties
Emphasis:
(1) The expressions about illnesses: have got a headache, take one’s temperature…
(2) The structure: I haven’t done much exercise since I got my computer.
Difficulties:
The pronunciation of stomach ache.
