Analysis of long sentences in English Generally speaking, there are three reasons for long sentences: (1) there are too many modifiers; (2) there are many juxtaposed elements; (3) there are many levels of linguistic structure. The following method can be used when analyzing long sentences: (1) find out the subject, predicate and object of the whole sentence, and grasp the structure of the sentence as a whole. (2) find out all the predicate constructions, non finite verbs, prepositional phrases and clauses in the sentence. (3) function, analysis of clauses and phrases for example, whether the subject clause, object clause, predicative clause, and adverbial, it is said, time, reason and result is that conditions etc.). (4) analyze the relationships between words, phrases, and clauses, such as which one of the antecedent words the attributive clause modifies. (5) pay attention to other elements such as parenthesis. Analysis: (1) the subject of this sentence is behaviorists, the predicate is suggest, the object is a clause, so the whole sentence is Behaviorist, suggest, that-clause structure. (2) the total of five predicate verb, they were suggest, is, raised, are, develop, experience etc., the relationship between the five predicate structure is: Behaviorist suggest that-clause who is raised as the main structure; in an environment as the attributive clause, modify the antecedent of child where there are many; stimuli is the attributive clause, modify the antecedent of environment; which develop his or her capacity for appropriate responses as the attributiv
