Zuckerberg began using computers when he was in middle school. His father taught him the BASIC Programming in the 1990s and later hired David Newman, an private computer program teacher, to develop his skills. Newman called him a “genius”. The teacher even said that it was tough to stay ahead of him. When he was in high school, he also took an extra class in the subject at Mercy College near his home. Zuckerberg enjoyed developing computer programs, especially communicating tools and games. In one such program, he built a software program “ZuckNet” to help his father stay in touch with his dentists. According to writer Jose Antonio Vargas, “Mark created the computer games that kids played.” During Zuckerberg?s high school years, he built a music player called Synapse Media Player and was widely used by many high school students. By then, Zuckerberg had won a good fame and Microsoft tried to employed him, but he chose to enter Harvard University in September 2002. By the time he began classes at Harvard, he had already been regarded as a genius in programming. During his second year in Harvard, he wrote a program called CourseMatch to help students with their selection in groups. A short time later, he created a different program called Facemash that let students make choice of the best looking face of some photos and there would be a ranking. The racing lasts about a weekend but was shut down on Monday Morning. For it was so popular that it was out of Harvard?s control. Then students were prevent from accessing the website.
