In precopulation perio , the wall of the spermathecae was thin, but the lumen ha been partitione into two chambers, orsal an ventral (Apr- Jun) ; Then the spermathecae began to shrink an the wall became relatively coarse while the mucosa evelope secretory stratum (Jul- Sep) ; Finally, the wall evi ently proliferate , while its polynuclear columnar epithelium egra e completely. There was nothing but one jellylike matrix existe in the lumen as reveale by the HE staining. In copulation perio ( Oct- Nov) , the lumen exten e significantly ue to the fact that spermathecae receive much male material an thus the wall became thin.
