MethodsHHV6 and HHV7 DNA from the plasma and peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) were tested with nested PCR in 62 RA patients and 138 matched healthy adult donors. ResultsThe differences of positive rates of HHV6 DNA and HHV7 DNA in PBMCs of the patients were not significant compared with those of the healthy controls (Pgt; 0.05); HHV6 and HHV7 amp; DNA were detected in the plasma of some patients but negative in the plasma of the controls.ConclusionHHV6 and HHV7 DNA are present in the plasma of some RA patients, which suggests that the active infection of HHV6 and HHV7 may be related to the pathogenesis of RA.
