1 Introduction
1.1 Research background
Since the first film was introduced to China in 1986, the film industry has changed dramatically. More and more new techniques are applied to film shooting, which makes films more attractive. Nowadays, watching films has become a common and fashionable entertainment in people’s daily life. The demand for foreign films, especially English films is become greater and greater. Facing these English films, the first task is to translate them into Chinese and the film titles translation is one of the most important parts. On the one hand a film title is a bond that connects the film to the audience and has a great influence on the box office. On the other hand the culture information contained in film titles promotes the culture communication to some extent and provides rich resources to Chinese at the same time.
However, after over one hundred years later since the first foreign film was introduced to China, the study of film titles translation finally got the attention it deserved. In the earlier research of this subject, such as “外国电
