AbstractFrom the historical evolution of middle school Chinese education, we reflect on the purpose of Chinese education from different times and different researchers. We think the study on the purpose of Chinese education has achieved fruitful results since ancient times to now. However, there are still divergent views which have a negative impact to our Chinese education. The reason is the study on middle school Chinese education was not on the appropriate philosophical basis. So, this paper use analytic philosophy and philosophical hermeneutics as the philosophical basis of the study, to further explore the real purpose of middle school Chinese education, to provide theoretical support for effective Chinese teaching practice.Because analytic philosophy and philosophical hermeneutics have deep understanding on language, which can provide reference on the theory and methods for our Chinese education study. Language views of analytic philosophy and philosophical hermeneutics, and focus on the linguistic analysis, and understanding of language comprehension, they all have an important role in enlightening and guiding to our Chinese education study. On this basis, we think the purpose of middle school Chinese education is construction of the literacy of the middle school students analyze and understand the language. Language analysis literacy refers to the ability of using language to analysis and analyzing language, it requires using proper language to express the meaning clear. Language understanding literacy refers to grasp the meaning of the language correctly, which are complementary to each other. Result of the analysis of language is in order to better understand the thoughts and feelings expressed by the language. At the same time, it lays the foundation for grasping the meaning of language correctly and the further correct analysis.The meaning of construction of the literacy of the middle school students analyze and understand the language is the quality of
