Abstract: in Chinese, most people learn a second language is English, most China students in the grasp of the tongue (Chinese) the situation began to learn English. Therefore, the original Chinese knowledge will influence to master a new language system. There are differences between English and Chinese in two aspects of pronunciation, vocabulary and grammar, and to some extent, it affects foreign language learning. By analyzing the positive and negative effects of mother tongue on English learning, this paper aims to help English learners improve their learning efficiency.

Introduction: the influence of mother tongue on second language learning is one of the important issues discussed by psycholinguistics and the two language acquisition research institute. To have mastered the basic pronunciation, vocabulary and grammar of a language of the foreign language learners, the English pronunciation, vocabulary and grammar learning affected by native speech, vocabulary, syntax and semantic knowledge. At the same time, different ethnic groups have different modes of language communication and discourse structure, and this knowledge in the mother tongue will inevitably influence the acquisition of foreign language communication mode and discourse structure in various ways. This effect is called transfer transfer in foreign language learning.
