There are lots of films around already. About Bullying is different – it includes the ideas of young people from several groups and was co-ordinated by an Art Psychotherapist. It is not just a factual film containing data/ information, rather, it involves feelings (qualitative data), and has an emotional aspect/ impact also. Making the film involved working with different processes and at a deep level. You can make your own film and choose your own level to work at – what feels comfortable? It doesn’t have to be a huge project such as this one. It’s easy to make a digital story using still images as a result of a single group session by using the formula above. If you want to work with qualitative data it will be important to ensure someone with therapeutic skills is able to facilitate the project. * The About Bullying project was still perceived as enjoyable, despite having raised so many sensitive issues and having been really hard work. This is what the cast said when asked what they enjoyed about the process. * Step 11 – Networking and promotion It was difficult to put About Bullying into 12 steps. Tool kit and 12 steps is the culmination of 2 years work. Careful decisions were made all the way through the project. Important for other people to know how to use the toolkit and to use it. The idea of a film fitted everyone’s needs, and has really worked. Support from the Specialist CAMHS manager was important in enabling me to network across sectors. * It will be import to provide training for CAMHS practitioners so as to enable them to feel more confident in working creatively, and to do this safely. If we are to make services more accessible and engaging, we will need to translate existing practice into the language of children and young people. Team training in creative mediums can enable service managers to make the most of existing resources, without the need to employ new staff. * Young people will collaborate and work with us if we can support them to do
