I. Classification of Verb
1. Different roles played in the formation of VP
Main Verb (Notional verb):
functioning as the head
and indicating the basic meaning
of a VP
Auxiliary verb (helping verb):
to help main verb in a VP
2. Main Verbs

Linking verb

Intransitive verb
SV/ SVA
Ditransitive verb:
award, answer, bring, buy, do, envy, give, leave, lend, make, offer, pay, pass, sell, send, show, sing, spare, teach, tell, write, etc.
