Teenagers may have peers that make fun of them or put them down. If a teen feels like an outcast, it can have an effect on his or her self esteem. -Parents. Parents, coaches and teachers who always criticize can make a teenager feel as though he or she never does anything right, and is never valued. Such constant criticism may cause him or her to feel unloved. -Unrealistic expectations. We all want to live up to our potential. But sometimes teenagers feel pressures from unrealistic expectations. Parents and teachers may expect too much of them. Often, a teen can develop low self esteem because he or she is not living up to the expectations that one sets for oneself. A teenager can, at some times, be his or her own hardest critic. ;Appearance (self image);some teenagers may be not confident and suspect their personal ability because they are not the top students in the school. They may think that they dont have good grades on their lesssons and they dont have any strong point. As a result, its easy for them to suspect their personal ability as well as their future.;Most pressure of teenagers comes from their high demand of themselves. They pursue blindly the success of their study or work and ignore the improvement of their internal value. Thus,they dont have the courage to handle the problems when facing the pressure. Many teenagers hold the opinion that they cant make any breakthrough. They have no confidence in themselves,especially when campared with other excellent peers. ;Parents;;Study;Chinese education focuses on book learning. To Chinese teenagers , studying is mainly for passing the varities of exams.As a result, the only standard of a good student is the good grade.
