万方数据 万方数据 摘要 文化缺省指的是同属于一个文化范畴的交际双方在交流时对那些被双方知晓 的背景知识加以省略的现象。译者作为文化交流的桥梁，有义务在译文中将文化 缺省进行重构，以帮助译文读者建立起语义上的连贯性，从而对源语文化有更深 切的理解。文学作品也是一种文化的交际，只不过作者的交际对象是同一文化范 围内的读者。对于处在同一文化背景中的人们来说，他们会在阅读过程中根据文 本中的一些信息提示自行对省略的东西进行意义上的填补，从而使作者的交际意 图得以实现，但这对于其他文化范围内的读者来说想正确理解作者所省略的东西 并非易事。 本文以《平凡的世界》为例，选择其中三章内容展开英译，并以之为基础针 对习语在原作中的反映作出集中分析，继而探讨作品翻译过程中文化缺省的解决 策略，即异化翻译策略与归化翻译策略，将之细化为五种翻译方法，即加注法、 借用法、意译法、虚实转换法、省略法，并着重分析了其各自的适应性和优缺点。 本文以文化缺省为背景，以翻译补偿为理论指导，通过讨论文学作品中习语的存 在情况并进而提出对其英译的解决策略。通过这些阐述，作者表达了自己关于翻 译的一些看法，以使得译文读者在不失真的前提下可以恰如其分地地领悟原作者 的所要阐述的内容，从而取得理想的交际效果，以促使跨文化交际的顺利达成。 关键词：文学作品；《平凡的世界》；文化缺省；翻译补偿；习语 Abstract Cultural default refers to the deleted cultural background knowledge shared by persons in the same cultural background in the process of communication. Being a bridge of cultural exchanges, the translator has the obligation of reconstructing cultural default in translation, in order to help readers to establish semantic coherence, and thereby make them have more profound understanding of the source language culture. Literature is also a kind of cultural communication, but the author’s communication object is readers of the same culture range. For people in the same cultural background, they will carry out the compensation of something omitted with the help of some prompting message in the process of reading the text, so that the writers communicative intention can be realized, but it may be hard for readers within other scope of cultures to correctly understand the omission of the reader. This paper takes The Ordinary world as an example, and chooses three chapters of it to translate; then it pays attention to the analysis of idioms by basing on the formal translation. Finally, from the perspective of cultural default, and more specifically based on the idioms in literary works, this paper discusses two translation strategies in translating Chinese idioms into English, i.e., foreignizing translation strategy and domesticating translation strategy, claiming the techniques of a
