定义在牛津高中英语中运用与启示 　　【摘要】随着时间的推移，当笔者接触、通读、学习完完整的《牛津高中英语》教材时，笔者深感《牛津高中英语》与以前的教材相比，其中一个鲜明的特色就是有关定义的理论在本套教材中的使用，定义的运用俯首即拾。 　　【关键词】《牛津高中英语》；教学 　　【中图号】G633.41【文献标示码】A【文章编号】1005-1074(2009)03-0214-02 　　 　　2005年暑假，当笔者第一次拿到《牛津高中英语》教材，翻开第一模块Unit 1 School life,读到“High school is a time of discovery ,learning and hard work”时，笔者就被编者对High school的界定所折服，因为开篇就告诉读者中学是发现之旅、学习之途、用功之程。读者的眼前一下就会展开一幅对未来的希望、希冀的自我描摹蓝图，读者的想象力得以挖掘和体现。随着时间的推移，当笔者接触、通读、学习完完整的《牛津高中英语》教材时，笔者深感《牛津高中英语》与以前的教材相比，其中一个鲜明的特色就是有关定义的理论在本套教材中的使用，定义的运用俯首即拾，笔者从《牛津高中英语》教材1-9模块的Welcome to the unit, Reading, Word power, Grammar and usage, Task, Project和Workbook中梳理出一些运用定义的句子，例如： 　　Welcome to the unit 　　High school is a time of discovery ,learning and hard work.(模块1-Unit 1 school life P.1) 　　Language, in its broad sense, is a way information is transmitted. (模块三Unit 2 LanguageP.21) 　　Reading 　　An advertisement provides information and uses persuasive language and exciting images to encourage people to buy a product or service or believe in an idea. (模块四Unit 1 Advertising P.2) 　　Cloning is producing an exact copy of a plant or an animal using its cells. (模块五Unit 3 Science versus nature P.42) 　　Word power 　　Archaeology is the study of civilizations by looking at things remaining from the time when the civilization existed.
